Essa Sambou, head coach of the 2010/2011 Gambia Football Association division one league champions Brikama United, has applauded his team for their brilliant performance against Gamtel despite losing the game 2-nil.
Speaking after his side lost to the telecommunication giants in the last game of the league at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium on Sunday, coach Sambou described the performance of his players as brilliant even thought they missed numerous scoring chances, particularly during the second half.
“We really played very well in the first period and created excellent goal-scoring chances but we failed to make best use of them; instead we were punished for our errors,” Coach Sambou said, adding: “Gamtel were able to capitalise on our defensive blunders to score two clear goals.”
He expressed optimism that Brikama United “will bounce back” from their defeat to Gamtel, while vowing to put in place a much more formidable team in the club’s bid to win the FA Cup competition.
