The 2009 Brikama Nawettan qualifiers kicked-off last Tuesday 23rd June 2009, at Brikama Mini Stadium.
Thirteen teams are taking part in the preliminaries and the winners in the preliminaries will join the four relegated teams in the second round matches.
The qualifiers commenced with a thrilling encounter featuring Donics FC, who thrashed Sam FC 3-0. Dahabas FC defeated African Light FC 3-2.
On Thursday 25th June 2009, Madina FC drew 0-0 with Sanchaba FC United FC, while on Friday 26th June 2009, Sambou Kunda FC lost to Gidda United FC 2-1.
The championship will resume today Tuesday 30th June 2009 and Celtics FC will clash with Kembujeh FC.
On Wednesday 1st July 2009, Sam FC will battle it out with African Light FC. Thursday's game will be played between Donics FC and Dahabas FC.
Newtown FC will meet Madina FC on Friday.
The organising committee is appealing to all participating teams to exercise discipline and tolerance during the qualifiers. They promised free and fair championship.
They also expressed their readiness to promote and develop sports in Brikama and its satellite villages, particularly in the field of football.
