Senior secondary schools across the Western Region over the Weekend converged at BrikamaUpperBasicSchool to hold their annual inter-schools athletics heats.
This is part of preparations for the 2009 inter schools athletics championship to be held later this year at the Independence Stadium in Bakau organised by The Gambia Secondary School Sports Association for the way forward of Gambian athletics.
Eight senior secondary schools participated in the heats, which were keenly contested and saw delightful performances from athletes from various senior secondary schools. The event attracted a large crowd from Brikama and its surrounding areas.
At the end of the heats KinderDorfBottropTechnicalSeniorSecondary School were once again crowned champions of this year Western Region Senior Secondary School Inter-schools Athletics Championship. They secured 451 points, Sifoe came second with 271 points, Fatim Senior Secondary School came third with 260 Points, Methodist Senior Secondary came fourth with 240 points, Saint Francis Senior School came fifth 225 points, Scan Senior Secondary School came sixth with 204 points, Alieu Bajara Senior Secondary came in seventh position with 190 and Mayork Senior Secondary came eighth with 179 points.
