As part of his contribution towards the development of sports in the country, particularly to football, Father Gough on 4 January 2012 presented a cheque for fifty thousand dalasi and a set of jerseys to the Gambia Football Association top-tier side Young Africans FC.
In presenting the cheque and the jerseys to Young Africans at a ceremony held at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, Father Gough expressed his readiness to contribute immensely towards the development of sport in the country.
According to the Father, he was really delighted to present a cheque to render his support to Young Africans as they are presently taking part in the national division one competition.
The Coordinator of Father Gough Foundation, Bai Malay Wadda, said Father Gough was really delighted to give support to Young Africans, adding that the Father has been contributing immensely towards the development of sport in country.
He promised to continue his support to sport for its development in the country.
For his part, the executive secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC), Mamudou Max Jallow, applauded Father Gough for his tireless contribution towards the development of sport in the country, particularly football.
