Boost for Scanaid Senior Secondary School

Philanthropists and the founder of the Scanaid Senior School in Brufut on Thursday 24th June, 2010 donated handsome gifts to the school.

The donated items included furniture, TV, beds, bicycle, computers, clothes, footballs, shoes, and some kitchen dishes.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony at the school ground, Torunn Bottegarerd said their project is a joint project with lots of people that brought materials to Scanaid from Norway.

She said this is not the first of its kind, noting that there is another container on standby that is yet to arrive. She revealed that they are also sponsoring 1,624 children in the school.

She said there is another 185 students in Brufut Junior Secondary School, who are also part of the sponsorship list.

For his part, Mr. Phatty Baldeh, the Liaison Officer of Scanaid said that they have been donating to the school for so many years. He stated that last December they gave two 40ft containers to the school, all geared towards improving education in the country.

Mr. Baldeh alluded that they have a nursery and primary school where none of the students pay school fees.

He advised the students of the school to be obedient and work hard towards developing their full potential.
