Seven men were recently arraigned before Principal Magistrate Abeke of the Brikama Magistrates' Court, charged with disobedience to a lawful order.
The accused persons are Assan Sarjo, Momodou Lamin Badjie, Mustapha Jatta, Amadou Jammeh, Amadou Sarjo, Ebrima Colley and Arness Manjami.
They all pleaded not guilty of the charge and were each granted bail of D20,000 with a Gambian surety each.
According to the particulars of offence, the seven accused persons, on 9 March 2011, at Gidda and Talokoto, in Brikama, West Coast Region, demarcated and restricted lands in the Kombo East, West Coast Region. They intruded the demarcated land, which is a reserved government property, and were asked to refrain but refused the said order given by the Governor of the West Coast Region.
