The Brikama outfit Bombada have gained promotion to the GFA second division after beating Starlight of Banjul 1-0 in their final third division qualifiers game played at the Brikama Mini- Stadium at the weekend.
Starlight came into the game with a single point and needed only a victory to keep their dream of regaining promotion to the second division after their recent relegation to the third tier following a dismal performance last season.
Bombada, on the other hand, needed a draw or a win to secure promotion to the second division and got the lion’s share of ball possession with some goal chances.
Mustapha Njie scored the only goal of the game for Bombada GFA in the 35th minute of the game to earn them a place in the GFA 2012-2012 second division.
Bombada finished the triangular qualifiers with 9 points in four matches.
At the time of going to press, Gunjur United are playing against Roots at the Brikama Mini Stadium, while Starlight are clashing with KGI FC in the other triangular qualifiers game at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.
