BEM spoil Brikama unbeaten records in Super Nawettan

Barra, Essau and Mayamba (BEM) on Wednesday ended the unbeaten record of the 2012 Super Nawettan champions, Brikama, in the 2014 Premier Games-sponsored Super Nawetan zonal football championship.

The North Bank Region boys beat the Sateyba boys 1-nil in group B game played at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium to grab their first win in the super nawetan.

BEM drew 1-1 with Bakau and Gunjur in their previous outings before securing a slender win over group B leaders Brikama, who secured the maximum 9 points in four games and are through to the quarterfinal despite their 1-0 defeat to the North Bank Region boys courtesy of skipper Lamin Nyang’s strike from the penalty spot after midfielder Lamrana Jallow brought down striker Modou Lamin Marong inside the area.

BEM are currently joint second position with Serrekunda East in group B with 5 points each in three games but Serrekunda East have played more games than them.

Brikama are still top leading Group B with 9 points with one more game to play against Bakau.

Matches continue today, Friday 5 December 2014: Bakau will clash with Gunjur at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda.

Bakau are with 3 points in three games and will be searching for a win against embattled Gunjur side to advance to the quarterfinal.

Serrekunda East will play against BEM at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium.

Serrekunda East and BEM are with 5 points each in three games and will be aiming for a win against each other to boost their hopes of making it to the quarterfinal.
