Banjul wins National Wrestling Championship

Banjul City Council won the 1st edition of the National Wrestling Championship after a tight contest among the seven regions that participated in the national championship.

In the group stages, BCC took first position with 76 points, WCR 50 points, KMC 45 points, NBR 40 points, URR 10 points while CRR got 5 points.

However, in the various kilo grams of the competition, Lamin Charreh secured the 1st position in the 120 kg seconded by Alagie Malick Sanneh of WCR.

In the 100 kilos, Amadou Ndour of WCR came 1st while Famara Jatta of NBR took second. In the 86 kilos, Bakary Jarjue of NBR and Sheikh Sabally of BCC took second.

Malick Secka of BCC came out in 1st position in the 76 kilos category while Tijan Ndour of West Coast Region secured second position.

In the 66 kilos, Famara Jatta of West Coast Region captured the 1st position while Fally Sarr of BCC got second.

At the end of the championship, various trophies and cash prizes were presented to the regions.

URR secured the award as the best disciplined region.

CRR got the best dressing style award.

Speaking at the occasion, the Mayor of Banjul Samba Faal conveyed his gratitude to competitors for their participation in bringing the trophy to Banjul.

He thanked the management of Banjul wrestlers and the participants for their commitment.
