Brikama Area
Council has donated sanitary materials worth over D70,000 to the Western Region
Health Directorate in Brikama.
The council’s
management said the donation formed part of their commitment to support
regional efforts in the prevention and control of covid-19 pandemic.
Chief
Executive Officer Modou Jonga hopes that the donation will strengthen the level
of preparedness and capacity of the Regional Health Directorate at points of
entry into the West Coast Region.
Chairman,
Sheriffo Sonko assured his office’s support in regional efforts to the
prevention and control of the virus and called for concerted efforts in
containing the pandemic.
Regional
Health Director Ngally Abubacarr Sambou applauded the council for the support
and assured that the materials will be properly used.
The
presentation ceremony was witnessed by the deputy chairman, NDMA regional
coordinator, West Coast Region Red Cross coordinator, officer-in-charge of
Brikama District Hospital, Ward Councilors, senior management team and host of
regional authorities.
The council
is also set to start sensitisation in the communities in collaboration with
Foni Agency for Rural Development (FARD) and a consortium of youth groups
(Activista, National Youth Parliament, Peace Ambassadors Gambia and YWCED.
