Angolan envoy meets President Jammeh

A special envoy of President Eduardo Dos Santos of the Republic Angola yesterday met President Yahya Jammeh at State House in Banjul.

Rui Jorge Carneiro Mangueira, Angolan Secretary of State of External Relations Ministry told waiting journalists after a close-door meeting with the Gambian leader that he led a delegation as a special envoy of President Dos Santos in his capacity as President of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

According to him, they delivered a special message to President Jammeh, with whom, he added, they discussed issues regarding The Gambia and Angola after Jammeh’s recent visit to Angola.

“We also had the opportunity to understand the views of President Jammeh about the cooperation between The Gambia and SADC itself,” he said, adding that they also discussed issues of cooperation between The Gambia and SADC.

The Angolan envoy also told journalists that during their discussions with President Jammeh, they shared views about the future of Africa, which he described as very encouraging and positive.

In his view, Africa is going to be stronger with the views and participation of President Jammeh.

Other members of the team that met with President Jammeh included, Dr. Siyabonga Cwele, MP Minister of State Security of the Republic of South Africa and Utoni Nujoma, the foreign minister of Namibia.
