The national senior male football team coach of Angola,
Gustavo Ferrín, on Saturday commended the determination of his players in the
1-1 draw with The Gambia, in Benguela Province’s Ombaka Stadium.
However, he said, that was not the result expected by the team for their first friendly match, ahead of the squad’s participation in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking to the press, at the end of the game, the Uruguayan Gustavo Ferrín highlighted the way the Angolan squad moved on the pitch and the pressure they put on The Gambia throughout the whole game, “which shows that the team has been evolving”.
To the coach that was a good game and it served to move the pieces on the pitch.
“After the preparation of many days in Lubango City, we’d like to have won this game, but in the second half the (Angolan) players were physically worn out,” explained the coach.
