Alleged thief arraigned

A man charged with stealing pieces of cloths has been arraigned before Magistrate Sanneh of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court, a charged he has denied.

The charged sheet revealed that the accused, Muhammed Sarr, on 28 October 2010, at Fajara in the Kanifing Municipality, stole five pieces of cloths valued D16,000, being the property of one Sally Sanyang.

Sgt 1781 Kinteh told the court that the accused was not a first-time offender, as he had previously been convicted on a similar offence of stealing.

Therefore, the prosecution objected to a bail for the accused person.

Magistrate Sanneh granted the prosecution’s application and remanded the accused person in custody. Hearing continues.
