Alleged Impersonator in Court

One Michael Savage, a resident of Bundung was on the 8th July 2009 arraigned before Principal Magistrate Olajabuta Kayode, of the Bundung Magistrates' Court, charged with impersonation.

According to the charge sheet on count one, between January and May 2009 at Kololi, the accused falsely represented himself to one Ali Hamoud and several others associated with Ali Hamoud as a public officer employed in the service of the NIA and under false representation allegedly collected various documents, receipts and the sum of D1,600 from the said Ali Hamound. He also falsely inform him that his opponent one Nasir Bade was under arrest by the NIA and thereby committed an offence.

While on count two, the alleged offence revealed that, the accused Michael Savage, represented himself to one Malcom Mitchell as a public officer employed in the service of the NIA, and under false representation collect various receipt and the sum of D1,200, from the said Malcom Mitchell. He also falsely informed him that his opponent one Nasiru Bade was under arrest by the NIA and thereby committed an offence. He pleaded not guilty on both counts.

The accused bail conditions are that he must provide two responsible Gambian as sureties and one of whom must be a government employee.
