Alleged fraud case proceeds

The criminal trial of obtaining good by false pretence involving one Abdoulie Jallow recently proceeded at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Drammeh.

Testifying for the prosecution, the second prosecution witness, Ebrima Colley told the court that he is a storekeeper at Kanilai Group International (KGI), and that he recognised the accused person.

According to him, on 10th September 2009, one Omar Touray (PW1) and the accused, Abdoulie Jallow came to the shop and told him that his boss one Saga Camara had asked him to give PW1 and the accused, Abdoulie Jallow 1000 bags of rice.

He adduced that as there was not enough rice in the shop, he made a telephone call to his boss for confirmation.

PW2 adduced that Mr. Touray on that day collected 200 bags of rice and said the accused will be collecting the remaining bags, and noted that he signed a delivery note on 11th September 2009.

The accused, Abdoulie Jallow, he added came and collected 300 bags and signed the delivery note on 12th September 2009.

According to him, the accused came back and collected 350 bags of rice, which he also signed.

He said PW1 Mr. Touray came with a note that the accused has deposited a cheque for D625, 000 from KGI Bank, and that he also made some payment of D200, 000 on 12th August 2010, to him (PW1) Omar Touray.

The case was adjourned to 30th August 2010 for continuation.
