The forgery case involving Temple Godson, Musa Jobe, Tida Badjie, and Abdou William, could not proceed recently at the Special Criminal Court in Banjul before Justice Emmanuel Nkea.
When the case was called, defence counsel L.K. Mboge, who was defending the 1st accused, Abdou William, told the court he wanted to call a witness who was also an accused person in the case.
However, the witness, Ousman Manjang, who had earlier pleaded guilty to one of the counts, at that point, told the court he was not willing to testify in the case.
Defence counsel L.K. Mboge again told the court he had a witness who was alleged to have been interfering with him.
The trial judge then told counsel Mboge that he knew what to do if he wanted to compel a witness to come to court.
Justice Nkea, at that juncture, asked Tida Badjie to enter into her defence, but her counsel, Uzuma, informed the court they came for the continuation of the 1st accused’s defence, and not for Tida Badjie to open her defence.
He added that his client could not open her defence, as they were not prepared for it.
The case was then adjourned till 5 March 2013, for the 1st accused to continue his defence.
