Testimony was recently rendered against one Pa Ali Dibba, charged with being in possession of prohibited drug at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

Njaga O. Jack testified telling the court he is a narcotics officer attached to Kairaba Police Station, and he recognised the accused person.

He said that on 29 December 2011, between 12noon and 1300hrs, he led a team of narcotics officers on patrol along a street at London Corner, Serrekunda, to a particular drug centre.

He said when they arrived at the said place, they found the accused inside a hole, concealing suspected drug, adding that they identified themselves to the accused and conducted a search on him.

Officer Jack further adduced that they found parcels of suspected cannabis in the possession of the accused, and three parcels were also found being concealed in a hole.

The accused was arrested and taken to Kairaba Police Station for further investigation, he continued, adding that during the investigation, the accused confessed being the owner of the parcels, but denied owning the three parcels found in the hole.

The accused was later cautioned and charged with the offence committed, he said, adding that the accused and the suspected drug were taken for weighing, and the result of 100grams was certificated.

He said samples were also taken to the medical and health department and a report was issued.

The case was adjourned till 31 May 2012.
