One Ebrima Marong of Brikama town recently testified in the trial of one Mustapha Ndow, accused of assault causing actual bodily harm, at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Sidi Jorbateh.

Marong said he knew the accused person, and could recall what happened on 23 June 2014.

On that particular day, he was sitting at his compound gate when he saw the accused person coming towards him holding a black nylon bag, with one boy.

When the accused person approached him, he removed a broken bottle from the nylon bag and wanted to stab him with it.

There was a push and pull, and the accused then stabbed him with the broken bottle on his face and the hand.

His sister went and reported the matter to the Brikama Police Station, and the accused person ran away, he told the court.

He went with the police to the station, and was taken to the Brikama Health Centre where he was treated and discharged.

The accused later showed up, and was arrested.

The case was adjourned to 14 October 2014.
