Banjul United beat Brikama United 4-1 on post-match penalty shootout in the semi-final, after a goalless draw in the regulation time at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on Sunday to sail to the final.
The game showed luminous exhibition of skills and talents and attracted multitude of spectators from Serrekunda East and its satellite areas for the weekend’s biggest clash.
Both sides launched several goal-scoring opportunities at each other’s goal mouth but the regular time failed to produce a winner.
This pushed the game into a post-match penalty shootout which ended 4-1 in favour of Banjul United, and the victory has also earned the captain-based outfit a place in the final for the first time in their history.
Elsewhere, Hawks thumped Young Africans 3-1 in the other semi-final game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Sunday, to advance to the final against Banjul United this weekend.
