The Albait Islamic Organisation of the Lebanese Community in The Gambia over the weekend celebrated the birthday of the holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) "Mudlad Nabi" in the form of a Quranic recitation and dinner.
Held at the Lebanese Community Mosque in Pipeline, the celebration brought together Muslim elders.
Addressing the gathering, Imam Sheikh Rabih Farhat, who is also the leader of the Lebanese community, said Islam is the only true religion that exists in the world, adding that Islam preaches peace and unity.
According to Imam Farhat, "those who follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad SAW are true Muslims." He said the Qu'ran embodies that Muslims should live together in peace and unity and a dignified life.
Imam Farhat called on all to stand and fight against infidels.
The Imam also prayed for the departed soul of the late Imam Saja Fatty to rest in perfect peace.
For his part, the former President of the Supreme Islamic Council, Imam Banding Drammeh dilated on the importance of Qu'ran and the observance of the birthday of the Prophet, noting that Islam means complete submission to Allah.
He then prayed for lasting peace and unity to prevail on earth, saying Muslims should unite and respect their true religion.
