Papa Leigh, formerly the Sales Manager of Africell has been pormoted to the position of Director of Sales and Public Relations with responsibility to oversee the commercial department of Africell, which he confirmed to The Point yesterday.
Mr. Leigh who is said to have a good background working in sales and public relations, started working with Africell in 2004, and has reportedly been instrumental in making a name for the company.
Meanwhile, Mr Leigh also confirmed to The Point, in an interview, that "Africell has signed two new contracts worth 4.3 million Dalasis with the state broadcaster Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS).
One of the contracts worth 1.3 million Dalasis concerns featuring the World Cup finals in South Africa, and the second contract worht 2.5 million Dalasis is for sponsorship of a film, called "Passion" to be aired soon on the GRTS television.
"Many Gambians are football enthusiasts, and featuring the World Cup is a step in the right direction," Mr. Leigh noted, adding that "Africell always believes in giving back to its customers."
"The whole country can now view the World Cup at their doorstep," Mr. Leigh announced yesterday.
"This is part of our corporate social responsibility, and our continuous resolve towards the socio-economic development of The Gambia. We owe it to the Gambian people," Africell's new Director of Sales and Public Relations further declared.
