Africell have suffered yet another setback in the ongoing Gambia Football Association first division league championship after their 1-0 defeat to Wallidan in the week six fixtures at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium on Sunday.
Wallidan opened the scoring through striker Daniel Nichola in the 18th minute of the game from a spectacular long range strike to give his side an early lead, before Ebrima Sowe levelled the score in the 32nd minute of the game following a brilliant header and to force a 1-1 draw going into the second period.
Upon resumption, Wallidan re-organised themselves and mounted pressure on Africell’s defence line and created several goal-scoring opportunities and their struggle was finally rewarded with an equalizer through Ousman Sillah, who scored in the 72nd minute to help the blue boys complete a narrow 2-1 scoring advantage.
At the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium, Armed Forces thrashed telecommunications giants Gamtel 3-1 the same day.
