Africell, one of the GSM operators in the country, Wednesday commemorated the 22nd July Anniversary at its headquarters on Kairaba Avenue.
The celebration was done in a grand style with the hoisting and decoration of flags measuring 5 by 7 meters.
The hoisting of the two flags, which include the Gambian national flag and the Africell flag, at the Africell Headquarters, brought a convergence of Africell management and staff, the Police band among other guests.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the ceremony, Africell Marketing Manager, Papa Leigh, said that in their celebration of the July 22nd anniversary, the company showed the patriotism and love it has for its nation in a form of raising two flags on top of the two towers at its headquarters.
Mr Leigh said they were able to turn all challenges to opportunities in the course of the year and look forward to a fruitful next year.
He urged Africell subscribers to maintain their loyalty with the company and called on non-subscribers to also join the Africell family.
Africell media consultant, Musa Ceesay, said that Africell being the leading GSM operator in the nation always leads in whatever it does.
Mr Ceesay, however, revealed that the record is what the company is interested in, saying it has been breaking numerous records since its inception.
According to him, to have such magnificent flags hoisted at Africell’s headquarters is the biggest-ever manufactured in the nation and raised anywhere.
In highlighting the significance of the flags, Ceesay said it is in association with the 22nd July anniversary celebrations.
“They could be raised in any other day and we Africell are glad to raise the biggest flag in The Gambia,” he pointed out.
