Africa youth games delight Gambian duo

Gambian athlete: Fatou Sowe and Coach Mamkeway Cessay, who formed part of the Gambian team to the 1st Africa Youth games in Rabat, Morocco has been speaking about their experiences in the ANOCA Athletics Championship where the team secured a bronze.

The Gambian duo said they were extremely delighted to be part of the event they described as a success in an interview at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, Monday.

Mamkeway Ceesay who led the team to a successful youth games highlighted the fact that an event of this magnitude has served as a unique opportunity for her and the team to interact with other participants across the continent.

"The most important thing in this competition is the interaction of athletes from different parts of the world which has also served as an opportunity for them to grow and to learn from one another," Ceesay stated

She described the competition as aspiring, considering the fact that the lessons learnt from the 10-day event could be put to good use, while thanking her athletes for their impressive performances.

Fatou Sowe, one of the brightest talents in Gambian athlete who reached the finals of all her events also shared her Rabat's experiences with Pointsport.

She also akin her experience in Morocco to that of her coach, which she noted, is of the best experience she ever had.

Fatou Sowe, who is one of the best known recruits in the team, represented the Gambia Athletics Association in a series of championships in countries like Guinea Bissau, Mali, Senegal and Morocco, respectively with some fantastic results to remember.
