Hundreds of people including senior government officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, the National Centre for Arts and Culture, as well as representatives from Nigeria and other parts of the sub-region, last Saturday gathered at the Kairaba Beach Hotel to witness the Africa Movie Academy Awards Night Nomination for 2012.
In his welcoming speech delivered on behalf of the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Tourism and Culture permanent secretary Nuha Touray thanked the organizers of Africa Movie Academy for choosing The Gambia to host this memorable 2012 nomination night for African movie greats, which is a prelude to the award in Nigeria in the next few months.
“I would particularly like to urge you to consider bringing the actual award night to The Gambia in the near future,” Mr Touray said, adding that although The Gambia’s movie industry is relatively young, the country has a very competitive edge in terms of location and services for the film industry.
