Oh
Mama Africa!
How
can we proudly observe 25th of May
As
Africa Liberation Day
When
the Liberation torch handed down to us
Was
set aside to erode and rust
Oh
Mama Africa!
How
can we honestly observe 25th of May
As
Africa Liberation Day
And
in your heart is the suffering Congo
And
how long is she yet to undergo
Fratricidal
war fed upon pains and blood
And
the seeds of hatred and discord
Oh
Mama Africa!
How
can we sincerely observe 25th of May
As
Africa Liberation Day
And
close to your heart is beautiful Rwanda
Where
your children are now restless wanderers
They
have finally taken the refugee trail
Carrying
children, animals, mattresses and pails
Oh
Mama Africa!
How
can we proudly observe 25th of May
As
Africa Liberation Day
When
from the North are crawling in the Islamists
And
their brother–enemies the jihadists
Each
accusing the other of heretic and falsehood
They
are indeed two irreconcilable brotherhoods
Oh
Mama Africa!
How
can we sincerely observe 25th of May
As
Africa Liberation Day
Mama!
At the foot of Mount Kenya
The
lofty monument of your sons Kenyatta
Nyerere,
Lumumba, Nkrumah, Mandela
Mama
Africa!
Forgive
our today leaders if they confess
Regret
their greed and excesses
They
promised to make us “super powers”
That
over our land prosperity would ever shower
Instead
they’ve made themselves the “super power”
To
dominate us like mighty towers
Mama
Africa!
How
can we truly observe 25th of May
As
Africa Liberation Day
When
Liberation torch handed down to is
Was
left on the way to erode and rust
