Adherence to good advice is important

Mar 2, 2011, 12:50 PM

The advice given by the President of the Supreme Islamic Council, Alhaji Muhammed Lamin Touray, during the commemoration of Maulud Nabi in Gunjur, for young children to take advice from their parents for the betterment of their lives is, indeed, a good move.

This is what we expect from our religious leaders, who should preach good things that would benefit them in society.

It is very good for children to follow the advice parents give to them, because good advice would never go in vain.

It will, instead, mould them to become better persons in society.

Also equally important for them, is to listen to parents and take their good advice, which is always in the best interest of their own development.

Any person who fails to adhere to sound advice would always end up regretting his/her own deeds.

In the good old days, people always followed the good things their parents do, and it was in the same way they also mould their own children.

However, in today’s generation, some of the children hardly listen to their parents.

Thus, some of the many problems affecting young people today is mainly due to ill advice they received from their peers, and some parents who wrongly advice their children.

In any case, it is also the responsibility of every parent to always give good advice to their children.

We urge children to always try to emulate the good deeds of their parents, so that they will one day serve as a role model in their country and humanity at large.
