The Galleh Manda groundnut case, which was scheduled for
continuation on Wednesday,
6 August 2008 before the Central River Region
Travelling Magistrate Amadou Baldeh could not proceed as the accused failed to
produce his witnesses.
The accused Malick Ceesay told the court that he was tried to get in touch with his defence counsel and the witnesses through the phone but could not due to network failure.
Magistrate Baldeh then told the accused that the case would proceed on the next adjourned date with or without his lawyer or witnesses. According to him, the case had been adjourned three times.
Meanwhile the accused was granted court bail in the sum of D700,000 with two Gambian sureties, one of whom must be a title deed holder.
It could be recalled that the accused Malick Ceesay is standing trial for the charge of obtaining goods by false pretence, a charge he denied.
The case was adjourned until
