Abdoulie M Touray Withdraws from GNOC Presidency

Abdoulie M Touray, Secretary General of the Gambia National Olympic Committee who was also vying for the position of the GNOC presidency for the June congress, has officially announced his withdrawal.

 In a self explanatory memo received by Pointsports yesterday from the GNOC, Abdoulie M Touray stated the reasons for his withdraw. Below is the full text of his statement:

"This is to officially inform you that I have decided to withdraw my candidature as president of the Gambia National Olympic Committee in support of the nomination of the Vice President of The Gambia Football Association, Brigadier General Lang Tombong Tamba. I believe that he possesses the leadership qualities and a strong passion for sports and youth development to consolidate and build on the successes of the GNOC in the years to come.

I will continue to work with selflessly and faithfully for the development and promotion of sports in The Gambia in fulfillment of the Vision 2020 development objective of our dear Motherland."
