5 arraigned for housebreaking, stealing

Momodou Malick Jallow, Abdourahman Barry, Modou Lamin Badjie, Omar Sowe and Momodou Alpha Barry were recently arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, charged with housebreaking and stealing.

The particulars of offence on count one stated that Momodou Malick Jallow, Abdourahman Barry, Modou Lamin Badjie and Omar Sowe on 23 December 2011, at Tanji Village, broke and entered into the house of one Pa Modou Camara, with intent to commit a felony, therein to wit stealing.

Count two read that all the accused persons on the same date and place, stole the following: one laptop, its charger and jacket valued at D20,000; one video camera and its charger marked JVC valued at D12,000, and one suitcase valued at D1,500.

According to the charge sheet on count three, Momodou Malick Jallow, Abdourahman Barry and Momodou Alpha Barry on 7 January 2012, at Brufut Village, broke and entered into the shop of one Amie Manneh and therein stole the following items: 21 shirts valued at D5, 250, and ten trousers valued at D2, 250, being the property of the said Amie Manneh.

Furthermore, count four stated that Momodou Malick Jallow and Momodou Alpha Barry, on 31 December 2011, at Tanji Village, broke and entered into the shop of one Adama Jobe and therein stole the following items: one Mobile phone marked LG valued at D800, two pieces of cloth valued at D200, and a pair of scissors valued at D150, being the property of the said Adama Jobe.

Meanwhile, the accused persons were each granted bail of D200, 000 with two Gambian sureties with landed property within the jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned till 7 March 2012.
