5 Agric officials’ case set for mention at High Court

Justice Abi of the Banjul High Court yesterday adjourned the economic crime case involving five Agriculture ministry officials for mention.

The accused persons are Ada Gaye, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fafanding Fatajo, project coordinator of the Food and Agriculture Sector Development Project (FASDEP), Omar Jammeh, financial controller of FASDEP, Foday Jadama, deputy director of the soil and water management services under the Ministry of Agriculture, and Dr Abdou Ceesay, director of the department of Livestock Services.

When the case was called, SM Tambedou told the court he was representing the 1st accused person; LS. Camara said he was representing the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th accused persons.

DPP SH Barkhum represented the state.

DPP Barkhum said they have the case file and were going to file the indictment latest yesterday, and applied for an adjournment to mention the case.

Both defence counsel SM Tambedou and LS Camara did not object to the application.

The case was then adjourned to 11 February 2015, for mention.

It would be recalled that the accused persons were on 14 October 2014 arraigned at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Nyima Samateh on an economic crime charge.
