Twenty-six youths from Sankandi village in the Kiang West district were Tuesday arrested by police in the Lower River Region (LRR) for allegedly intruding into someone’s land, sources have told The Point.
According to our sources in the region, those arrested, all youths, were picked up by the police for “illegally intruding into a plot of land owned by one Momodou M. Jobe of Nioro Jataba, but currently under dispute”.
“They intruded into the said plot of land and started demolishing the fence,” our source said, adding that all the suspects have been charged with “willful damage to property.”
Meanwhile, sources have also told this paper that the suspects, all of whom remained in police custody at the time of going to press, are expected to appear in court today.
