Reports reaching Pointsports Desk from the organiser of the ongoing Noran Football Tournament and the former Latdior central back Ebrima (Batta) Njie has indicated that a total of 16 teams are fighting for the 9-aside Noran football title, which has since last Saturday kicked-off in a stunning fashion at the dilapidated Bakau Mini-stadium.

The tournament which is being staged by Batta annually is this time around organised by the former Africell rocky defender, in partnership with the leading GSM operator in The Gambia, Africell, who has always been supportive of sports since its establishment in 2001.

Day One of the highly-anticipated football tournament, which is almost reaching its second round stage, saw Gassa FC entertained Cholly City to an impressive 3-1 victory, followed by another mouth-watering encounter when Birmingham suffered a humiliating 3-0 thumping of Bitick BI on Monday.

On Tuesday, Yukanright entertained D-Block to a bitterly fought goalless before the double winners in the just ended Nawettan in Bakau Ron-Mango played a dissappointing goalless draw against Bakau New Town outfit Luniburg on Wednesday.

Saudi and Madness were involved in a pulsating 1-1 draw on Thursday, while Sallon Bi lost 3-0 to Hallis BI, as part of Friday's encounter at the Bakau Mini-stadium.

The other game which was played on Monday saw Level 10 beat Nyan Bi 2-1 to progress to the second round of the tournament, which according to Njie, is organised in a bid to cement the already existing relationship among the youths of Bakau, as well as to improve the standards of football in the area.
