Historic MOU signing brings healthcare access to club's dedicated workforce in memory of lost Caddies.

Fajara Club, The Gambia - May 28, 2025

In a moving ceremony that honored both tradition and progress, Fajara Club The Gambia today signed a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding with Innovarx Global Health to launch the "Healthy Caddy Initiative," a comprehensive healthcare program designed to serve the club's caddies, groundskeepers, and groundsmen.

The signing comes on the heels of the tragic and unexpected passing of beloved caddy Foday Bah, more fondly known as "President," whose death underscored the urgent need for accessible healthcare services for the club's dedicated workforce. May Allah (SWT) grant Foday Bah and all the caddies who have passed away due to limited access to quality healthcare services Jannatul Firdaus (the highest level of Paradise).

A Legacy of Service Honored

The initiative carries special significance as it recognizes the generations of faithful service provided by the club's staff. Caddy Master Dam Amadou Nyang, speaking on behalf of all caddies, groundskeepers, and groundsmen, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the partnership, highlighting how some staff members have been integral to the club for generations—true stalwarts of the golf club dating back to when our founding father, Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara, teed off toward the Atlantic Ocean's sunset.

"This initiative honors not just our current staff, but the legacy of all those who have served this club with dedication and pride," Nyang remarked during the ceremony.

Leadership Vision for InnovationNewly elected Golf Captain Momodou B.T. Senghore, a second-generation club member and son of the late Dr. Tijan Senghore (previous Club Chairman), emphasized the importance of ushering in innovative approaches to create safety nets for the club while fostering valuable partnerships.

"This collaboration with Innovarx represents our commitment to caring for those who have cared for our club," Captain Senghore stated. "It's about creating sustainable solutions that protect our most valuable asset—our people."

Healthcare Democratization at the Forefront

Dr. Ismail Badjie, Founder and CEO of Innovarx Global Health and a member of Fajara Club, explained that this partnership extends far beyond his love of the sport. "This initiative honors the legacy of our club and recognizes the prestige that has been sustained by our caddies, groundskeepers, and groundsmen," he said.

Dr. Badjie emphasized that the free health screening offered on the day of signing reflects Innovarx's broader commitment to democratizing healthcare access and serving vulnerable populations who often face barriers to care. He highlighted the stark Gambian reality that four out of ten Gambian adults are now living with hypertension or diabetes, conditions he described as "silent killers in our society."

"We challenge our caddies and staff, like all Gambians who have received free health screenings over the years, to take ownership of their health," Dr. Badjie urged. "Be proactive in knowing your status, and if a diagnosis is confirmed, be adherent to your treatment—especially medication adherence, which is now more affordable through Innovarx's subsidized pricing."

Commitment to Excellence

The ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Adama Samba, Fajara Club Secretary, representing Club Chairman Pa Dodou Mbye, underscoring the club's leadership commitment to this transformative initiative.

Both parties have committed to maintaining strict confidentiality of medical information in accordance with healthcare privacy regulations, while each organization will bear its own operational costs related to the initiative.

The MOU includes provisions for renewal after the initial one-year term, with either party able to terminate with 30 days' written notice. Any disputes will be resolved through good faith negotiations between the parties.

This initiative stands as a testament to the power of community partnerships in addressing healthcare disparities while honoring the memory and service of those who have contributed to the rich heritage of Fajara Club The Gambia.
