THE MAN GOD CHOSES.

May 13, 2026, 12:22 PM

When the Lord identified Gideon to turn the tide in the wave of attacks from the Midianites, He chose someone He knew to be "a valiant warrior" to carry out the assignment. When Gideon was approached  by the angel of the Lord, he was in hiding threshing wheat away from the eyes of the oppressive Midianites.

Gideon questioned the angel why all this was happening to them after all the wonders their fathers had told them about God bringing them out of Egypt. Nevertheless, the angel requested him to "Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of the Midian's hand. Am I not sending you?" ( jdgs. 6:14)

Gideon recounted all his inadequacies which should disqualify him. "How can I save Israel? My clan is the weakness in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family." (Jdgs. 6:15) That did not change the Lord's mind.

"The Lord answered: "I will be with you and you will smite all the Midianites together." (Jdgs 6:16)

When God calls us, it is because He knows we can deliver. He does not chose at random. Besides, the vessel does not matter, it is the willingness that counts.

What is God calling you to accomplish for the kingdom that you are shying away from? Remember He is able to do "exceedingly abundantly above all we could hope or think of." (Eph. 3:20) Just leave it to Him.  Next article: How God used Gideon.
