Tourism Minister presides over launch of Zion Restaurant

In an effort to promote The Gambia as a tourism destination, Hamat Bah, Minister of Tourism and Culture, last Saturday presided over the opening of Zion Restaurant along the main Coastal Road Highway.

Delivering his statement, Minister Bah expressed delight whiling thanking the restaurant’s proprietor Abdou Azzi Dixon for such an important investment in the country. I hope that the facility will provides delicious meals for the people, saying is not easy to run a restaurant considering the quality and standard it needs to gain momentum.  

Abdou Azzi Dixon, the Proprietor of Zion Restaurant underscored the difficulties he went through before opening the place, saying the journey has failed with all kinds of challenges, including the effect of the high way construction which forced them to close their businesses. Mr. Dixon thanked his wives while reiterating that without them he wouldn’t have achieved his dream.

 

Delivering the vote of thanks, Matoma Dixon said the achievement is not something that happened overnight, adding that they have been working tirelessly with all challenges to make so they achieve their desires. She said: “We have seen the road construction which impacted our business drastically and led to the closure of the restaurant for some time.”

Marry Sock, 2021 presidential aspirant, emphasized the need for Gambians to support each other as brothers and sisters in order to move the country. She added that many a time when Gambians open businesses, they are not supported by fellow Gambian brothers and sisters.

She added: “This is one of the reasons why most Gambians businesses fall short and then eventually close.  I came here to support Azzi as a Gambian who spent all his money trying to build something.”
