The Latrikunda Sabiji-born Alieu Jobe, who goes with the alias Myk Jayda, a top Gambian song writer and award-winning hip-hop sensation was reportedly remanded at the state central prisons Mile II, with local media alleging the rapper owed an ex-girlfriend half a million dalasi.
"He gave D1 million to Myke to help solve his recent situation. We will be glad if you can thank him publicly for his good heart and nice gesture,” one of the rapper's close friends was quoted as saying by Whats On – Gambbia.
The 33-year old artist’s situation had attracted attention across the country, further raising concerns about the situation of the Gambia music industries and the miserable and sympathetic lives of Gambian musicians.
As a result, somehow successful Gambian artist such as Gibou Bala Gaye, known to many as Gee, gave a 100,000 dalasi donation for the artist’s bailout.
The token by the popular football is believed to be a sign to appreciation and gratitude, as the Myk in 2021 released a song titled ‘Steve Trawally’, paying tribute to the young player.
Accumulating wealth at a tender age, due to his professional football career, Steve has over the yeas been engaged in philanthropic work and has helped individuals, institutions and communities with materials and cash.
