The sensational rapper, who is a vocal critic of police brutality, state-backed oppression and corruption, made the sensational call on Saturday, when he, as president of ‘Team Gom Sa Bopa’ (Team Believe in Yourself), led the ‘Dafadoy’ (Enough is Enough) Protest.
The protest was meant to voice out grievances about the high water and electricity tariffs, following a 20% increment for water and a 37% increment for electricity tariffs.
Addressing the Dafadoy protestors, the vocal artist and activist said: “I am advising you as usual [that] this is our strength as we Gambians. When we see things that we don’t feel good about, which hurts all, let everyone come out and we go together, throw our difference aside and fight for it.
“When the cash power goes off, there is nothing like it is for Killa Ace, even the IGP’s house will go off, up to anywhere, even from the highest level own to the poor. So let not any one of us politicize it. When I say dafado, say dafadoy, dafaserr, dafaserr.
“Last but not least, we are just telling you that this is not the end of the battle. It starts today. The petitions are here, and we want to have as many Gambians to sign. Before we take them to the highest authorities, we want to have at least one million signatures and we can do it.”
