The National Youth Council (NYC) has continued its regional consultation meeting in Janjanbureh and Kuntaur with young people and stakeholders towards the development of the National Action Plan on youth, peace and security.

During the discussion session, participants were taken through the nitty-gritty of the National Action Plan for Youth, Peace and Security (NAP YPS) by the consultant so they could have the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation strategies of the NAP on YPS.

The participants took a great deal of latitude to share their honest opinions and recommendations towards the development of the national action plan.

NYC is tasked with the responsibilities to coordinate the development of the first-ever national action plan on youth peace and security.

In the spirit to foster inclusiveness and divergent opinions on the development of the national action plan, the NYC held regional consultation meeting with stakeholders and interest groups in the Upper River Region (URR).

In light of this, the consultation forum brought together young people and stakeholders including person with disabilities to discuss the perspective and the way forward towards the development of the NAP on youth peace and security.

Collaboratively, the NYC deems it very fitting to give the stakeholders the privilege to critically review and express their hard fact opinions on the development of the national action plan.

In light of the development of the NAP, the Regional Consultation meeting  was held in Kerewan in the North Bank Region and in Soma in the Lower River Region.

Participants were taken through the framework of the development of the NAP by the consultant so they could share their inputs on the action plan.

Collectively, the participants took the opportunity to interact and share their opinions on the NAP YPS.

Meanwhile, Youth Connekt-The Gambia focal point Basiru Jaye had a maiden Youth Connekt inter-chapter learning session with youth.

The meeting was held due to a request for the Gambian Chapter to facilitate a collaborative learning session, share best practices and lessons learned with the aim of enhancing the effectiveness and impact of Youth Connekt initiatives in other countries.

One of the outcomes of the meeting was a need for collaborative projects so that the youth in the various countries benefit from each other.

Members discussed a project proposal or concepts that will involve mobilising youth from the countries together.
