The thematic review on youth, peace, and security (YPS) will assess youth-related programs funded by the Peace Building Fund (PBF) over the past five years, along with any other policy measures, programmatic tools, and emerging practices in the broader field.
The objective is to identify best practices and lessons learned from existing PBF efforts in youth and peace building, evaluating how the PBF has been utilised to operationalise the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) program, with a particular focus on the pillar of youth participation.
This will serve to distill key findings and formulate practical recommendations on how the PBF, the Peace Building Support Office (PBSO), as well as UN partners and civil society organizations, can further advance the implementation of the YPS program more effectively through programmatic and strategic initiatives.
Executive Director of National Youth Council (NYC), Alagie Jarju, said the thematic review on youth, peace, and security provides a comprehensive assessment of PBF-funded youth-related programs and offers valuable insights into best practices and lessons learned.
‘‘Focused on youth participation and strategic initiatives, the review formulates practical recommendations to advance the implementation of the YPS program effectively,’’ Jarjue said.
Jarjue stated that the collaboration between the PBF, PBSO, UN partners, and civil society organizations is crucial for achieving sustainable peace and security through active youth engagement in peace building processes.
