YMCA becomes new leaders in Gambia’s basketball league

YMCA male basketball team are the new leaders in The Gambia Basketball First Division League after defeating Manjai Basketball Club during their week-seven fixtures played on Thursday 9th February 2023.

Kanifing-based team, YMCA, the only team yet to taste defeat in the league competition won Manjai basketball team by 103-64 during their earlier game played at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium.

YMCA also beat Kotu Blue Ninjas 104-80 during their second game of week-seven fixtures played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

YMCA by virtue of their performance and consistent result has now left-fogged Serrekunda East at the top of the standings after collecting 14 points.

Manjai Basketball boys occupy 6th position with 8 points.

Kotu Blue Ninjas sit 4th position with 11 points after seven games.

Lamin Skylanders Basketball team defeated Hope Basketball team by 54-42 during a game played at the Africell Tuglights Basketball Court on Friday.

Lamin Skylanders collected 8 points, while struggling side, Hope maintain rock bottom (8) position with 7 points after seven games.

Struggling side, Hope were beaten 65-60 by Banjul United during a game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Saturday.

Serrekunda East were defeated 87-72 by arch rival Serrekunda West during a derby game played at the Independence Stadium on Sunday.

The East boys who were on a good run of form have now been forced to setback, while Serrekunda West seem to have found their right footings in the league.

The result puts Serrekunda West at 2nd position with 13 points, while Serrekunda East dropped to 3rd place with 12 points after seven matches.
