Choro Mbenga-Nyassi, who spoke on the importance of sports and education, said education plays a key role not only in one’s personal development but also nation development.
She added that sports also contribute to creating employment as well as scholarship for many young athletes.
She went on to say that sports develop one physically, mentally and teach one the skill to deal with different circumstances in life.
She therefore urged girls ‘not to drop the book for the ball nor drop the ball for the game.’ She encouraged them to keep sporting while taking their education seriously.
Sadibou Kamaso, leader of Team Restore Confidence (TRC), in his remarks on the importance of the empowerment of women’s and girls’ in our society, said the best way to empower a woman or girl is by educating her.
He added that football is a sport that has a language that everybody speaks.
According to him, to empower women they have to be given leadership roles. He thanked Adama Jarjue for the initiative.
Omar Touray, the deputy mayor of Banjul City Council in his remarks on behalf of his mayor, called on others to emulate Adama Jarjue in empowering girls and women.
