The head coach of Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) zonal team, Alagie Amadou Ngum (alias Alagie Basse), has said that he is currently on the process of screening players ahead of the 2022 super ‘nawetan’zonal football tournament.

Coach Ngum made this statement after side Serrekunda East lost to Serrekunda West zonal team 2-0 in the opening match of the 2022 Kanifing Municipality Regional football tournament played at Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on Monday.

“The pre-season tournament will help us to prepare ourselves for upcoming super nawetan zonal championship,” he said.

“We have lost but that does not mean the team cannot move on; so we are still on our screening process.”

He added: “The team was selected when I was not aware but we are still on our screening process for our selection process.

“Our objective right now is to work on how to build the team and it is important to know your weakness earlier and so this a wake-up call for us.

“We are not pleased with the defeat even during the briefing at the dressing room and I told them that Serrekunda West always don’t want us to defeat them.”

He said the team at the moment did not have structure because he had trained with them just four days.
