The Point Newspaper FC were held to a goalless, while The Standard Newspaper defeated Journalism Students in the ongoing Young Journalists Association (YJAG) Media ethnics football tournament played over the weekend.

The Point Newspaper played a barren goalless draw against Foroyaa Newspaper during their opening derby Group B encounter of the ongoing media football tournament played at the Serrekunda West Mini-Stadium on Saturday.

The Point, who are the defending champions, came into the game with the hope of starting their title defence with a win, but the Churchill Town-based team Foroyaa held their nerves and were very solid in their defensive line.

The result gave both The Point and Foroyaa one point each, with Foroyaa set to take on the Paradise FM/TV, while The Point will play against Freelance Journalists next weekend.

Elsewhere, The Standard Newspaper defeated the Journalism Students 1-0 during their second Group A game played at the Serrekunda West Mini-Stadium on Sunday.

Pap Gaye scored the game’s only goal for the Bakau-based team during the second half of the game.

The Standard Newspaper now collected 4 points after drawing goalless against Star FM/TV in their opening game.

Journalism Students secured 3 points after two matches following their 1-0 victory over Online Media in their opening game.
