Meanwhile, in Qatar, the second Tuesday of February each year is celebrated as a national public holiday known as Qatar National Sports Day.
The public holiday is dedicated to promote a healthy lifestyle among the country’s residents and encouraging everyone to move and engage in physical activities.
Qatar national sports day was established in 2012 by the Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, aimed at raising awareness about the importance of sports and physical activity in maintaining a healthy life.
This day is a testament to Qatar’s commitment to fostering a physically active society.
The day is celebrated with a variety of sports activities organized across the country, ranging from football, basketball, and tennis matches to marathons, cycling races, and even traditional Qatari games. It’s a day when people of all ages and fitness levels come together to enjoy sports, proving that fitness can be fun and accessible to everyone.
In addition to the physical activities, Qatar national sports day also promotes healthy eating and lifestyle habits, further emphasizing the role of a balanced lifestyle.
