The Spurs young boys defeated Goh Bi 1-0 in an electrifying final played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on Sunday.
Abdoulie Jallow put Spurs Youth Team in front after 18th minutes from delicious finish.
Mamadi Manneh could have doubled Team Spur’s lead in the 25th minute of the match but his brilliant effort went some inches over the cross bar.
Sheikh Hydara could have levelled matters for Goh Bi in the 36th minute of the match but his powerful shot went over the cross bar.
Spurs Youth Team went to the break with a 1-0 lead.
As action resumed in the second half, head coach of Goh Bi Modou Ndow alias Cabla brought in several fresh legs to reinforce his attacking force and created numerous scoring opportunities but were unable to penetrate Spurs Youth Team’s strong defence line thus the match ended 1-0 in favour of Spurs Youth team.
As champions, Spurs Youth Team received a giant trophy, medals and a cash prize of D90,000 while Goh Bi received D70,000 as runners up.
The league sponsors Africell were represented at the Serrekunda East nawettan league final by Musa Sise.
The final was witnessed by Hon. Sulayman Jammeh National Assembly Member for Bundungka Kunda and other important dignitaries.
Abdoulie Manneh of Spurs Youth Team was awarded as the Man of the Match following his brilliant performance during the match.
The president of Serrekunda East committee, Modou Yusupha Cham, thanked all teams, stakeholders, partners and well-wishers of Serrekunda East Sports Development Committee for their support and commitment throughout the 2024 Serrekunda East nawettan season.
“I celebrated the successful completion of my monumental four-year cycle marked by 570 electrifying matches from the qualifiers to the league and knock out without any interruptions,’’ Cham said.
