The defeat damped Serrekunda East’s chance of making it to the final of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) super ‘nawetan’ final.
Coach Sarjo stated that his boys played a better game than their opponent during the game and also creating better chances. “We had a couple of chances to kill the game but could not capitalise on them. Penalty shootouts are luck,” he said, while expressing disappointment with the final result. According to him, everyone expected them to emerge victorious.
He said two of their best penalty takers lost their spot kicks.
“We were not expecting this in front of our fans and own home ground but it is football,” he further said.
