The President of Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia, Omar Jarju, stated that the trainings are at aimed at improving the skills and knowledge of sports journalists in The Gambia.
“Ultimately, the training will enhance the quality and accuracy of sports journalism in The Gambia.
The first phase of the training will be held in December 2024 and the second phase of the training will be staged in January 2025,’’ Jarju said.
Jarju revealed that SJAG is commitment to improve the standards of sports journalism in The Gambia.
He further revealed that SJAG is also committed to promote and develop sports industry.
Jarju pointed out that SJAG is ready to improve and support its members in their professional growth.
He added that the trainings will foster a network among sports journalists in The Gambia to collaborate, share insights and learn from each other’s experience.
He stated that SJAG is set to build a strong community with talented sports journalists.
SJAG capacity-building trainings are aimed at bridging the gap between sports journalists and other stakeholders such as athletes, coaches and sports organisations.
SJAG is edge closer to strengthen relationship and understanding between journalists and sports industry.
SJAG aspires to create impactful coverage that highlights athletes’ achievements, addresses challenges within sports and celebrate The Gambia’s sporting culture on both national and international level.
