Brufut defeated Gunjur 1-0 in their keenly-contested quarter-final match played at the Gunjur Nyamina Mini Stadium on Saturday to advance to the last four of the West Coast Region zonal football tournament.
Gunjur dominated the entire match and created numerous goal scoring opportunities but failed to materialise on them.
Brufut, who were unable to contain Gunjur in the midfield, created a few goal scoring opportunities.
Striker Kajally Conteh opened the scores for Brufut in the 25th minute of the match, which eventually proved to be the winner for the Sannehmentereng boys.
Gunjur responded back quickly for an equaliser and created many goal scoring opportunities but squandered them away thus the first half ended 1-0 in favour of Brufut.
Upon resumption of the match, Gunjur picked up where they left in the first half and piled heavy pressure on Brufut, crafting several goal scoring opportunities but failed to capitalise on them thus the match ended 1-0 in favour of Brufut.
The win earns Brufut a spot in the semi-finals of the 2024 West Coast Region zonal football tournament.
The defeat saw Gunjur out of the West Coast Region zonal football tournament and will now hang their boots until next year.
