Serrekunda West nawettan update

 The 2023 Serrekunda West Sports Organisation (SWESO) ‘nawettan’ league competition is currently at the final group stage matches at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium.

 

Some of the groups have already played their final (five) group stage matches.

Some teams have secured their places in the next round of the Serrekunda West nawettan and some of the teams confirmed relegated.    

Jeshwang City defeated Kanifing Layout 2-1 during their final Group A match played on Wednesday 4th October 2023.

Ebrima Camara and Babucarr Gumaneh scored for Jeshwang City in the 64th and 73rd minute of the match respectively.

 Alpha Jallow’s 79th minute strike only proved to be a consolation goal for Kanifing Layout.

The defending champions, Jeshwang City progressed to the next stage of the Serrekunda West nawettan after finishing 2nd place in their group with 11 points in five matches.

 Kanifing Layout is relegated from the nawettan after occupying bottom (6th) place in their group with1 point in five matches.

Tababi defeated Future Stars 1-0 during their final Group A game played later on Wednesday 4 October 2023.

Ismaila Drammeh’s 17th minute strike was all but enough to give Tababi the maximum points.

The win earns Tababi FC a place in the knockout phase of the Serrekunda West nawettan after finishing top-spot Group A with 11 points.

Future Stars may qualify to the next round after occupying 3rd position with 9 points in five matches.

BK Central defeated Jatta’s FC 1-0 in their final Group A game played on Thursday 5th October 2023.

Musa Drammeh’s 14th minute strike in the first half was enough to earn BK Central the vital three points.

The final result couldn’t hold much significance in terms of the group standings after both got eliminated from the Serrekunda West nawettan.

BK Central finished 5th position in their group with 4 points and now avoided relegation.

Jatta’s FC finished 4th position in their group with 5 points.

Erinjang defeated Old Hands 1-0 during their final Group B game played on Thursday 5 October 2023.

Buba Fatajo opened the scoring for Erinjang in the 72nd minute of the match, which eventually proved to be the winner for the Erinjang boys.

The win tentatively earns Erinjang FC 2nd place in Group B with 8 points, leveling with Babun Fatty.

Erinjang will now play against Kaw Tally Junction Bi.

Old Hands crashed out of the nawettan after finishing 3rd position in their group with 6 points.

Babun Fatty were held to a 1-1 by Hunters during their final Group A game played on Friday 6th October 2023.

The win earns Babun Fatty top-spot Group B with 9 points.

Hunters sit 6th place in their group with 4 points after five matches.

Kanifing United beat Campbell Town 2-1 during their final Group D game played on Tuesday 10th October 2023.

Ousman Faye gave Campbell Town the lead in the 20th minute of the match before Kanifing United came from behind to collect the maximum points.

Philip Sambou’s goals in the 63rd and 87th minute of the match was enough to earn Kanifing United the maximum points.

Despite the defeat, Campbell Town top Group D with 9 points, leveling with Kanifing United and Celtics respectively.

Unicorns were beaten 1-0 by Celtic in their final Group D game played later on Tuesday 10th October 2023.

Ebrima Jammeh scored for Celtic in the 84th minute of the match.

The win earns Celtic 2nd place in their group with 9 points, leveling with Campbell Town and Kanifing United.

Unicorns finished 4th place in their group with 6 points.
